A Day in the Death of Joe Egg

Peter Nichols wrote A Day in the Death of Joe Egg out of his own family’s experience raising a severely disabled child. He used laughter not only to lighten his family’s daily burden, but also to explore, with considerable compassion, the ongoing strain such a burden inflicts on a marriage. Laughter, in Nichols’ hands, is crutch and cure; ridiculous and redeeming; always necessary; always human.

Our production earned a year-end Footlight Award from the Seattle Times.
